Description

A front-row seat on the park. Five bedrooms. Five minutes from town.

Tucked into Stourbridge's much-loved Old Quarter, this detached five-bedroom home looks straight out over Greenfield Gardens and sits just a short stroll from the town centre. With windows on all four sides, light pours into every room at some point in the day. Add an open-plan kitchen and dining space, a conservatory, a low-maintenance garden and parking for three cars, and you have a home that makes busy family life feel easy.

We asked them what made them buy it...

"We loved the size and the spacious feel of the house straight away, and the light. There are so many windows. The layout worked really well for a growing, blended family, and the location was perfect for commuting to Hagley, Birmingham and Wolverhampton. Town is a five minute walk, the train station is just over ten minutes, and the M5 is easy to reach in either direction. But it's the people who make it. It's a really friendly, close community. People say hello and good morning when you pass them in the street. The Friends of Greenfield organise picnics in the park in the summer and carols at Christmas, and there's a lovely gardening group too. Mary Stevens Park is beautiful and only ten minutes away, with food and craft stalls all through the summer and in the run-up to Christmas. Our children walked to St Joseph's through the park, then caught the train to school in Hagley. And you have to see the Old Quarter at Halloween. So many houses decorate now, it's become quite a draw!"

What about the house itself?

"We updated the bathroom first, then opened up the kitchen to create a proper kitchen, dining and living area. That's where I spend most of my time, with the doors open to the garden. It's a lovely big, bright room. We added the conservatory in 2017, which gives us extra storage and a 'wet' way into the house in winter. Everyone who visits comments on the bespoke doors between the kitchen and the conservatory. We changed the garden to be low maintenance and low mess, and the artificial lawn is brilliant for kids and dogs because it just washes down. The back garden catches the early morning sun and the evening sun, so it's coffee in the morning and a G&T after work. It isn't really overlooked, so it's a lovely place to sit and relax. In winter the lounge is so cosy, especially with a big tree in the bay window at Christmas. But the thing we've never stopped loving is the view out the front over Greenfield Gardens, watching the seasons change. We'll miss that. And our neighbours, who are great."

Our agents say...

This is a home that works hard for a family without asking much in return. The living room is warm and inviting, with a fireplace and a big bay window framing the park. The kitchen and dining room is the real heart of the house, contemporary and generous, with integrated appliances and the conservatory right alongside. Upstairs there are three double bedrooms and two singles, so there's room for everyone plus a home office, a hobby room or somewhere for teenagers to escape to. A Jack and Jill en suite, a contemporary family bathroom and a ground floor WC keep the morning rush in check. Outside, the paved garden has plenty of space for furniture and summer evenings with friends, and the outbuilding is ready for storage, a home gym or maybe even a garden bar. The big wins aren't always visible, either: a new kitchen in 2015, new windows and front door in 2017, and a new en suite and self-cleaning silicone render to the front in 2020. With excellent schools within walking distance, the train close by and a driveway ready for new drivers joining the family, it really is future-proof. Get in touch today and come and see the view for yourself.
