Description

Thorncombe Heights

Thorncombe Heights is a prestigious new development of Luxury Holiday Lodges available for sale at Eype Beach Holiday Park, located in a spectacular position on the Dorset cliffside. With just twelve pitches available, and incredible sea and countryside views from every single one, this development represents a niche opportunity to own a luxury Holiday Home in a unique and breathtaking location.

A panoramic vista sets this development apart from any other. Picture waking up to the gentle sounds of the sea and enjoying your morning coffee from your decking, with views across Lyme Bay. Watch the sun rise over the Isle of Portland and boats going past on the sea, or look inland over the sheep grazing on the rolling fields, past Eype Church towards Colmer’s Hill. Join the South West Coast Path right from the Park, or drop down to Eype Beach itself and explore a hidden gem on the Jurassic Coast.

The Lodge

Located on Pitch 12 and measuring in at 42 x 20 ft, this Lodge is a fully bespoke model, built to the highest specifications by local manufacturers Timber Venture. Every inch of the build has been designed to make the most of the incredible view, while maintaining privacy from future pitches nearby.

Décor has been thoughtfully chosen throughout to keep the Lodge feeling bright, but with cosy elements too. Soft greys are paired with shades of teal and coral, which compliment the warm tones from the oak used throughout in doors, panels and furniture.

The Living Area

Floor to ceiling windows flood this open plan area with natural light from all sides. Two large sofas face over the coffee table towards the sea view and TV point in the corner. Statement curtains offer cosiness and privacy, and the raised ceiling is accented by a large oak beam. Seamlessly move from in to out, through the two sets of double French doors to the decking.

The Kitchen

The functional corner arrangement in the kitchen offers a raised oven, 4 ring gas hob, dishwasher, microwave and full-size fridge-freezer. All drawers and cabinet doors are soft-closing and there is plenty of storage space both above and below the counter tops, including two statement glass-fronted wall cabinets. The central island houses a wine chiller and boasts a breakfast bar, offering both a sociable cooking and casual dining experience. Windows behind the sink offer a countryside view to accompany your washing up, and the whole kitchen area is also lit by a Velux roof light. Next to the kitchen is a dining table with four comfortable chairs.

The Master Bedroom

With a king-size bed and more floor-to-ceiling windows, the Master bedroom is another place to appreciate both the sea and countryside views available from this Lodge. Alternatively, you could cosy up with a book or watch TV as there is a TV point in one corner. A large wardrobe with sliding doors and dressing table take up one side of the room, with additional storage in the form of two discrete drawers under the bed. The Master en-suite contains a toilet, sink, large shower cubicle and towel radiator.

The Twin Bedroom

Two full size single beds, each with a discrete storage drawer, make up the twin bedroom. A dressing table, shared bedside table, wardrobe and TV point are also included.

The Bathroom

The main family bathroom offers an over-bath shower, toilet, sink, countertop space, storage cupboards and a towel radiator.

The Hallway

The entrance hallway forms a spacious central point within the Lodge. Next to the doorway is a large seating bench with storage and coat hooks, and there’s an additional closed storage cupboard too. Just off the hallway is a handy utility room where you’ll find the boiler cupboard and a washer/dryer.

The Decking

The large, glass-fronted decking runs the entire length of the South and East-facing sides of the Lodge, measuring at 6 foot wide to the South, and 8 foot wide to the East. This has been designed to make the most of the views, and to catch sun from sunrise, throughout the afternoon and into the early evening. Included is a bistro-style garden table and chairs as well as a lockable outdoor storage box perfect for a barbeque, beach gear, parasol or cushions.

Nearby Facilities

Owners at Thorncombe Heights benefit from all the facilities at Eype Beach’s sister Park Highlands End, located on the opposite side of the valley and just a 15-20 minute walk or 5 minute drive away. Here you can find Martin’s Bar & Restaurant, Highlands End Lesiure Club with swimming pool, sauna and steam room, Dorset Foot Golf, a SPAR convenience store, children’s play areas and more.

Eype

Pronounced “Eep”, the name of the village means “steep place”, and its steepness is what gives Thorncombe Heights such breathtaking views. In the village you’ll find numerous small 18th and 19th century cottages lining the lane leading down to the sea. St Peter’s Church doubles as Eype Centre for the Arts, hosting exhibitions and cultural events throughout the year. The New Inn is the local dog-friendly pub, owned by Palmer’s Brewery, the oldest thatched brewery in the UK and based just a couple of miles away in Bridport. There’s also Eype’s Mouth Hotel with its own restaurant, and a small café at the base of the Park. Just a few hundred metres from the Lodges is Eype Beach itself, a secluded spot that’s often described by locals as a bit of a hidden gem. Unlike some others in the area, this shingle beach is dog-friendly all year round.

The Local Area

The nearest town of Bridport is a bustling town, with a popular twice-weekly market full of independent traders, bakers, crafters and producers. You’ll find a number of fantastic places to eat and drink both in Bridport and its harbour town of West Bay, which is just a short walk over the cliff from Eype. The region’s artistic connections mean the town enjoys literary festivals, art exhibitions, comedy performances and renowned musicians, as well as quirky and unique events like the Bridport Hat Festival. Further afield is the town of Lyme Regis, known as the “Pearl of Dorset” with its historic cobb harbour, independent shops and fossil-rich beaches. There’s also Weymouth with its miles of fine, golden sand and sheltered waters perfect for swimming.
